@lovingpinkat50

it’s been ten years!

when i began posting on facebook, my “handle” (ok, that’s not a social media term and i am in fact showing my age!) was @lovingpinkat40. well, on March 15 i will need to update that to reflect the decade that has passed.

but guess what? I still love pink. i wrote about my love for pink and my belief that yes, pink is indeed work appropriate ten years ago. so I won’t do so again. (check out sensational sophisticated women for serenewhimsy on facebook if you want to see my love of pink at age 4!)

so what, if anything, has changed? tons of stuff but, as to pink, I have super-sized my order. pink dresses, pink wallpaper, pink flowers, a vintage pink velvet sofa. (excuse me. the proper term for my flavor of pink is “dusty rose” now. don’t ever think Pinterest isn’t powerful!).

to give you a sense of my pink embrace, let’s look at some photos:

needless to say, lots of pink. my choice to create an ode to pink is because, quite simply, I have had ten more years to embrace myself. to not even consider whether pink is the “right” color this year, whether others think a house of pink is just flat out strange or whether my love of pink will somehow make others see me as frivolous.

and that is one of the many wonderful parts of aging — once you stop caring what others think or say, the opportunities to be you are endless. hopefully you will have found the you that you love to pieces so that being you is pretty damn amazing. dare I say fun.

you may have seen this quote from me before:

A woman tries on endless versions of herself. The day she finds the one that is the perfect fit? That is the day everything changes.”

it is the day you get to love pink with abandon. or heavy metal rock. or karaoke. or being on top (backwards).

my countdown has begun. on to @lovingpinkat50!
